Azure SQL Data Warehouse is a fully managed, elastic, and petabyte-scale columnar data-warehouse service that’s fully compatible and integrated with the Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem. SQL Data Warehouse can independently scale storage and compute power, so customers only pay for the query performance they need.Built on SQL Server, SQL Data Warehouse offers access to a large ecosystem of tools that support data loading, transformation, visualization, and analytical scenarios, including Microsoft Power BI, Azure HDInsight, Machine Learning, and Data Factory. The billing model is easy to understand and it offers on-demand pricing per terabyte at cloud scale. With the on-premises massively parallel processing (MPP) modern data warehouse from Microsoft, the Analytics Platform System (APS) offers customers a choice: in the cloud, on-premises, or both.To learn more about Azure SQL Data Warehouse, visit our overview documentation page, [What is Azure SQL Data Warehouse?](https://azure.microsoft.com/documentation/articles/sql-data-warehouse-overview-what-is/) To create a new database, see [Get an Azure subscription: Develop and test cloud solutions](https://aka.ms/newsqldw).
