Amazon RDS for MySQL Supports Password Validation

Share

Services

You can now enforce password policies in your [Amazon RDS for MySQL](/rds/) databases using the MySQL [validate\_password](https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/validate-password.html) plugin. This improves the security of your databases by defining minimum password length, required characters, and other rules. Password validation is available for RDS database instances running MySQL versions 5.6, 5.7, and 8.0\. You configure the parameters in the DB parameter group used by the instance. For more information, see the [Amazon RDS documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/CHAP%5FMySQL.html#MySQL.Concepts.PasswordValidationPlugin). Amazon RDS for MySQL makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale MySQL deployments in the cloud. See [Amazon RDS for MySQL Pricing](/rds/pricing/mysql/) for regional availability.
