You can now connect your Apache Kafka applications to [Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK)](/msk/) in the Europe (Milan) AWS Region. Amazon MSK clusters in Milan can be created using [kafka.t3.small](/about-aws/whats-new/2020/04/create-amazon-msk-clusters-with-t3-brokers/) brokers or brokers from the [kafka.m5](/about-aws/whats-new/2020/06/amazon-msk-provides-additional-ec2-m5-broker-sizes-for-more-flexibility-and-cost-optimization/) family.
It’s easy to migrate your data to Amazon MSK using open source tools like Apache MirrorMaker and [replicate ongoing changes](/about-aws/whats-new/2020/03/aws-dms-now-supports-replicating-data-to-kafka/) from supported sources using AWS Database Migration Service.
Amazon MSK is a fully managed service for Apache Kafka that makes it easy for you to build and run applications that use Apache Kafka as a data store. Amazon MSK is 100% compatible with Apache Kafka, which enables you to quickly migrate your existing Apache Kafka workloads to Amazon MSK with confidence or build new ones from scratch. With Amazon MSK, you spend more time innovating on applications and less time managing clusters. To learn how to get started, see the [Amazon MSK Developer Guide](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/msk/latest/developerguide/what-is-msk.html).
For Amazon MSK region availability, refer to the [AWS Region Table](/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/).
