[Amazon Lex](/lex/) is a service for building conversational interfaces into any application using voice and text. Starting today, you can build an Amazon Lex bot in US Spanish. Amazon Lex provides deep learning powered automatic speech recognition (ASR) for converting speech to text, and natural language understanding (NLU) to recognize the intent of the text, to enable you to build applications with highly engaging user experiences and lifelike conversational interactions.
You can now build conversational experiences in more languages and better engage your customer base. These conversational interfaces can be deployed as virtual agents, interactive voice response systems, self-service chatbots, or application bots. With the latest addition, Amazon Lex now supports four languages including US English, Australian English, British English, and US Spanish. To learn more, visit the Amazon Lex [documentation page](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lex/latest/dg/what-is.html).
