[Amazon Kendra](/kendra/) is a highly accurate and easy to use intelligent search service powered by machine learning. Starting today, AWS customers can use custom synonyms with Amazon Kendra to improve the accuracy of their search results.
Business terminology varies across organizations, as well as across industries. With Amazon Kendra’s custom synonyms feature you can extend Amazon Kendra’s understanding of your specific business vocabulary. When configured, Amazon Kendra uses custom synonyms to automatically expand search queries so that they include more relevant content that relates to the extended vocabulary.
Custom synonyms are available in all [AWS regions](/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/) where Amazon Kendra is available. To learn more how you can configure custom synonyms visit the [documentation page](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/kendra/latest/dg/index-synonyms.html). To learn more about Kendra, visit the [Amazon Kendra website](/kendra/).
