[Amazon Textract](/textract/) has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program ([FedRAMP](/compliance/fedramp/)) High authorization, approved by the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board (JAB), for the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. Additionally, Amazon Textract is now authorized in the US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), and US West (Oregon) Regions under FedRAMP Moderate.
Amazon Textract is a machine learning service that automatically extracts text, handwriting and data from scanned documents that goes beyond simple optical character recognition (OCR) to identify, understand, and extract data from forms and tables. With Textract, you can quickly and intelligently automate document processing in minutes vs. hours or days and take action on the information extracted whether it be automating loans processing or tax documents.
The security and compliance of Amazon Textract is assessed as part of multiple AWS compliance programs. In addition to FedRAMP High and FedRAMP Moderate, Amazon Textract is compliant with GDPR, ISO, PCI and SOC while also being HIPAA eligible. Amazon Textract supports Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) endpoints via AWS Privatelink and AWS Key Management Service (KMS), enabling customers to further enhance their security and compliance posture.
