You can now launch Apache ActiveMQ 5.16.2 brokers on Amazon MQ. This version update to ActiveMQ contains several fixes, improvements, and new features compared to the previously supported version, ActiveMQ 5.15.15\. Amazon MQ is a managed message broker service for [Apache ActiveMQ](http://activemq.apache.org/components/classic/) and [RabbitMQ](https://www.rabbitmq.com/) that makes it easy to set up and operate message brokers on AWS. Amazon MQ reduces your operational responsibilities by managing the provisioning, setup, and maintenance of message brokers for you. Because Amazon MQ connects to your current applications with industry-standard APIs and protocols, you can easily migrate to AWS without having to rewrite code. We encourage you to consider upgrading ActiveMQ with just a few clicks in the [AWS Management Console](https://console.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/home). To move to ActiveMQ 5.16.2, you affirmatively need to upgrade your brokers in the console or via the API as automatic minor version upgrade will not be applied for upgrading from older versions of ActiveMQ to 5.16.2\. To learn more about upgrading, please see: [Version management](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/latest/developer-guide/activemq-version-management) in the Amazon MQ Developer Guide. Apache ActiveMQ 5.16.2 includes the fixes and features of all previous releases of ActiveMQ.
