You can now launch RabbitMQ 3.8.17 brokers on Amazon MQ. This patch update to RabbitMQ contains several fixes and enhancements compared to the previously supported version, RabbitMQ 3.8.11.
Amazon MQ is a managed message broker service for [Apache ActiveMQ](http://activemq.apache.org/components/classic) and [RabbitMQ](https://www.rabbitmq.com/) that makes it easy to set up and operate message brokers on AWS. Amazon MQ reduces your operational responsibilities by managing the provisioning, setup, and maintenance of message brokers for you. Because Amazon MQ connects to your current applications with industry-standard APIs and protocols, you can easily migrate to AWS without having to rewrite code.
We encourage you to consider upgrading RabbitMQ with just a few clicks in the [AWS Management Console](https://console.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/home). If your broker has automatic minor version upgrade enabled, AWS automatically upgrades the broker to version 3.8.17 during the prescribed maintenance window. To learn more about upgrading, please see: [Editing broker preferences](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/latest/developer-guide/amazon-mq-rabbitmq-editing-broker-preferences.html) in the Amazon MQ Developer Guide.
RabbitMQ 3.8.17 includes the fixes and features of all previous releases of RabbitMQ. To learn more, read the [RabbitMQ Changelog](https://www.rabbitmq.com/changelog.html).
