Amazon CloudWatch Logs now supports CloudWatch usage metrics, enabling you to monitor your CloudWatch Logs API Usage. Using usage metrics, you can create alarms to be notified when you're approaching a [CloudWatch Logs API service quota](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudWatch/latest/logs/cloudwatch%5Flimits%5Fcwl.html) and visualize your usage on CloudWatch dashboards.
Usage Metrics for CloudWatch Logs are available at no additional cost in all GovCloud and commercial [AWS Regions](/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/). You can view your current usage metrics using the Amazon CloudWatch console. Usage metrics can also be retrieved using the AWS CLI and SDK.
To get started with CloudWatch Logs Usage Metrics, review our [CloudWatch Logs Usage Metrics](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudWatch/latest/logs/CloudWatch-Logs-Monitoring-CloudWatch-Metrics.html#CloudWatchLogs-Usage-Metrics) documentation.
