Services

[AWS Snowcone ](/snowcone/)customers can now remotely monitor and operate their devices from AWS OpsHub or the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). This enables customers to manage one or thousands of Snowcone devices, even when they are geographically dispersed. Customers can remotely view a central dashboard to see whether a device is online or unlocked and monitor metrics such as storage and compute capacity. Additionally, customers can now remotely unlock or reboot devices in the field that have a network connection. Before this launch, customers were able to manage Snowcone devices that were physically present and on the same local network. As customers expand the number of sites they deployed Snowcone devices to, they want a scalable way to manage all their Snowcone devices from one central place without having to be physically present with the devices. With this launch, Snowcone devices can now be securely connected to an AWS region to enable customers to view information about all their devices in a single dashboard and to remotely reboot or unlock devices. Remote management features can be turned on when first ordering a Snowcone device or after it’s deployed on site. Once the feature is turned on and the device has an internet connection, it will automatically create a secure connection to an AWS Cloud endpoint and begin sending device status and metric information. To view connected devices, customers can sign into AWS OpsHub with their AWS Cloud credentials. In AWS OpsHub, they will see a list of their connected devices along with device status and metrics, such as whether the device is online or storage and compute metrics. Customers can then select devices and initiate actions such as rebooting or unlocking the device. Remote management features are optional and not required to manage a Snowcone device locally, which can still run completely disconnected if desired. This feature is available for AWS Snowcone devices ordered on or after 8/11/21\. This feature is available in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Frankfurt) AWS regions and at no additional cost.
