Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) Custom is a managed database service for legacy, custom, and packaged applications that require access to the underlying OS and DB environment. Amazon RDS Custom is now available for the Oracle database engine. Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle automates setup, operation, and scaling of databases in the cloud while granting access to the database and underlying operating system to configure settings, install patches, and enable native features to meet the dependent application's requirements. With Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle, customers can customize their database server host and operating system and apply special patches or change database software settings to support third-party applications that require privileged access. Through the time-saving benefits of a managed service, Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle allows valuable resources to focus on more important business-impacting, strategic activities. By automating backups and other operational tasks, customers can rest easy knowing their data is safe and ready to be recovered if needed. And finally, Amazon RDS Custom cloud-based scalability will help our customer's database infrastructures keep pace as their business grows.
