Following the announcement of updates to the [PostgreSQL database](https://www.postgresql.org/about/news/postgresql-141-135-129-1114-1019-and-9624-released-2349/) by the open source community, AWS has updated Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition to support PostgreSQL versions 13.5, 12.9, 11.14, and 10.19 in commercial and [AWS GovCloud (US) Regions](/govcloud-us/). These releases contain bug fixes and improvements by the PostgreSQL community.
You can initiate a minor version upgrade manually by modifying your DB cluster. You can enable the “Auto minor version upgrade” option when creating or modifying a DB cluster. For more details, see [Automatic Minor Version Upgrades for PostgreSQL](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/USER%5FUpgradeDBInstance.PostgreSQL.html#USER%5FUpgradeDBInstance.PostgreSQL.Minor). Please review the Aurora [documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/AuroraPostgreSQL.Updates.20180305.html) to learn more.
Amazon Aurora combines the performance and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. It provides up to three times better performance than the typical PostgreSQL database, together with increased scalability, durability, and security.
