Amazon MQ now provides support for ActiveMQ 5.16.4\. This update to ActiveMQ contains several fixes and enhancements compared to the previously supported version, ActiveMQ 5.16.3
Amazon MQ is a managed message broker service for [Apache ActiveMQ](http://activemq.apache.org/components/classic/) and [RabbitMQ](https://www.rabbitmq.com/) that makes it easier to set up and operate message brokers on AWS. Amazon MQ customers can reduce their operational burden by using Amazon MQ to manage the provisioning, setup, and maintenance of message brokers. Because Amazon MQ connects to your current applications with industry-standard APIs and protocols, you can more easily migrate to AWS without having to rewrite code.
We encourage you to consider upgrading to ActiveMQ 5.16.4 with just a few clicks in the [AWS Management Console](https://console.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/home). Because this is the a minor update, your broker will will be automatically upgraded if you have enabled automatic minor version upgrade. To learn more about upgrading, please see: [Managing Amazon MQ for ActiveMQ engine versions](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/amazon-mq/latest/developer-guide/activemq-version-management.html) in the Amazon MQ Developer Guide.
To learn more, read the [ActiveMQ release notes](https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=12311210&version=12350483).
