AWS IoT Device Client introduces a new version 1.8 which provides docker images, PowerPC architectures support, and an implementation to use the new “AWS Run-Command” Job Template. AWS IoT Device Client [docker images](https://gallery.ecr.aws/aws-iot-device-client?page=1) contain the latest release of Device Client software for x86\_64, aarch64, and armv7 architectures running Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, or Red Hat Ubi8 through the Elastic Container Registry (ECR). With this, customers can get started with the Device Client quickly. Customers can use Device Client with PowerPC64 and PowerPC64le architectures in addition to AMD 64, AARCH 64, MIPS32 and ARMV7L. In addition, AWS IoT Device Client now supports a newly added AWS Managed Job Template “[AWS-Run-Command](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/developerguide/job-templates-managed.html)”. AWS Managed Job Templates provide predefined configurations for frequently performed remote actions on their IoT devices. “AWS-Run-Command” is the 8th AWS Managed Job template which enables customers to instruct IoT Devices to run shell commands using AWS IoT Device Management [Jobs feature](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/developerguide/iot-jobs.html). To get started on your device, download the AWS IoT Device Client source code from [GitHub](https://github.com/awslabs/aws-iot-device-client), or get the docker image through ECR.
