[AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS)](/dms/) has expanded support of Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) as a target by adding the ability to create an AWS Glue Data Catalog from the Amazon S3 data files generated by AWS DMS. With this integration, you no longer need to run a crawler or additional extract, transform, and load (ETL) jobs to create the catalog, and the Amazon S3 data is ready to be queried through other AWS services such as Amazon Athena.
The AWS Glue Data Catalog generated from the data that AWS DMS migrates to Amazon S3 can be used for many reasons, from querying the data with Athena to using AWS Glue Studio to perform data preparation and transformation for analysis. This integration reduces the manual effort required for accurate catalog generation.
To learn more, see [Using Amazon S3 as a target for AWS Database Migration Service](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/dms/latest/userguide/CHAP%5FTarget.S3.html).
AWS Glue Data Catalog integration is available in all AWS Regions where DMS is [available](/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/).
