AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS) now allows you to define actions that run automatically after launching recovery instances, empowering you to automate any action you need to run after an instance has successfully launched.
With AWS DRS, you can now create custom actions for any AWS Systems Manager (AWS SSM) command or automation, including documents you create or were shared with you, so basically, the potential functionality is almost limitless. A pre-defined set of actions is also included with this launch, such as installing the CloudWatch agent and creating an Amazon Machine Image from the instance.
AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery helps minimize downtime and data loss with fast, reliable recovery of on-premises and cloud-based applications using affordable storage, minimal compute, and point-in-time recovery. With this change you can now add automation to the recovery process, in order to perform recovery related tasks you previously had to perform manually, such as reconfiguring applications or setting DNS to point to the launched recovery instances.
The new capabilities are available in all of the AWS Regions where AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery is supported. See the [AWS Regional Services List](https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/) for the latest availability information.
