Starting today, [Amazon Virtual Private Cloud](https://aws.amazon.com/vpc/) (VPC) customers can create their own Prefix Lists in Canada West (Calgary) Region.
A prefix list allows you to group multiple CIDR blocks into a single object, and use it as a reference to simplify network configuration. You can share your prefix list with other AWS accounts using [AWS Resource Access Manager](https://aws.amazon.com/ram/) (RAM) and use it to configure VPC route tables and security groups. A prefix list makes it easier for you to roll out changes and maintain consistency in security groups and route tables across multiple VPCs and accounts. For example, you can create a prefix list to represent all your branch office CIDR blocks and use it to configure your security groups and route tables. When you add a new branch office, you simply add its CIDR block to the prefix list, and this automatically establishes connectivity from all corresponding VPCs and accounts.
With this region expansion, prefix lists are now available in all [AWS Regions](https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/), including the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
There is no additional charge to use prefix lists. For more information on prefix lists, visit our [public documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/userguide/managed-prefix-lists.html).
