Today, AWS Systems Manager Inventory announces support for Inventory Resource Data Sync in AWS opt-in Regions (Region that is disabled by default). You can use Inventory Resource Data Sync to send inventory data collected from all of your managed nodes to a single Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket. By syncing software inventory to Amazon S3, you can run Amazon Athena queries to gain greater inventory insight, such as understanding application use or reviewing application version compliance. You can also use Amazon QuickSight to visualize your software inventory, enabling you to drill down into queries in a point-and-click fashion. Previously, you could not send inventory data into or out of an an opt-in Region. Now, you can send inventory data to and from all Regions that are enabled by default, including opt-in Regions. For example, you can send data from US East (N. Virginia) and store it in an Amazon S3 bucket in an opt-in Region, such as Africa (Cape Town). Alternatively, you can send data from Africa (Cape Town) and store it in an Amazon S3 bucket in another Region, such as US East (N. Virginia). AWS Systems Manager Inventory Resource Data Sync is available at no additional charge. For more information about AWS Systems Manager Inventory Resource Data Sync, see the [user guide documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/sysman-inventory-datasync.html). Inventory Resource Data Sync is available in all AWS Regions, including the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. You cannot transfer data between AWS GovCloud (US) Regions and AWS Commercial Regions using Inventory Resource Data Sync.
