Today, we are excited to announce Amazon Transcribe’s support for Personally Identifiable Information (PII) identification and redaction for Spanish (US) audio transcription, in addition to the existing support for English audio. Amazon Transcribe uses state-of-the-art machine learning technology to help identify sensitive information such as Social Security number, credit card/bank account information, and contact information (i.e. name, email address, phone number and mailing address).
With this expanded language support, contact centers can review and share transcripts in Spanish to improve the customer service experience, coach agents, and discover new business opportunities while maintaining their privacy and security standards for handling PII.
Automatic PII redaction for Spanish (US) is available in Transcribe and Transcribe Call Analytics APIs in the existing [supported regions](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/transcribe.html#transcribe%5Fregion). The following PII types are supported: BANK\_ACCOUNT\_NUMBER, BANK\_ROUTING, CREDIT\_DEBIT\_NUMBER, CREDIT\_DEBIT\_CVV, CREDIT\_DEBIT\_EXPIRY, PIN, EMAIL, ADDRESS, NAME, PHONE, SSN. For Transcribe APIs, you will incur additional charges as described in automatic content redaction pricing. To learn more, see the [Amazon Transcribe documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/transcribe/latest/dg/pii-redaction.html) page.
