## Announcement Cloud Workstations [preconfigured base images](https://cloud.google.com/workstations/docs/preconfigured-base-images) use Ubuntu 24.04\. The last images built on Ubuntu 22.04 are tagged with `last-ubuntu2204` for building backwards compatible custom images. ## Change Cloud Workstations preconfigured base images default to Python 3.12.3.
