Amazon Q Developer Java upgrade transformation now offers step-by-step upgrades, and library upgrades for Java 17 applications. This new feature allows developers to review and accept code changes in multiple diffs, and to test proposed changes in each diff step-by-step. Additionally, Amazon Q can now upgrade libraries for applications already on Java 17, enabling continuous maintenance.
This launch significantly improves the code review and application modernization process. By allowing developers to review smaller amount of code changes at a time, it makes error fixes easier when manual completion is required. The ability to upgrade apps already on Java 17 to the latest reliable libraries helps organizations save time and effort in maintaining their applications across the board.
This capability is available within the Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ IDEs.
