This feature is now [generally available](https://cloud.google.com/products/#product-launch-stages) (GA). ## Feature [BigQuery Managed Disaster Recovery](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/managed-disaster-recovery) provides managed failover and redundant compute capacity for business-critical workloads. It is intended for use in the case of a total region outage and is supported with the [BigQuery Enterprise Plus edition](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/editions-intro) only. This feature is now [generally available](https://cloud.google.com/products#product-launch-stages) (GA). ## Feature You can now create[remote models](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/reference/standard-sql/bigqueryml-syntax-create-remote-model)in BigQuery ML based on the[gemini-2.0-flash-exp](https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/docs/gemini-v2)model in Vertex AI. To create remote models, you can use either SQL or BigQuery DataFrames. You can use the[ML.GENERATE\_TEXT function](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/reference/standard-sql/bigqueryml-syntax-generate-text)with these remote models to perform generative natural language tasks for text stored in BigQuery tables. You can also use the `ML.GENERATE_TEXT` function with these remote models to perform generative AI tasks, for example audio transcription or document classification, using image, video, audio, PDF, or text content stored in BigQuery[object tables](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/object-table-introduction).
