Public Preview: Signed request on Azure Front Door

Services

We’re announcing the public preview of Azure Front Door signed request, a powerful new feature designed to enhance access control for content delivery. This capability allows organizations to restrict access to their content—such as media streams, file downloads, APIs, and documents—based on user authentication, geolocation, or time-based constraints. Configuration is streamlined through the Azure portal, where users can set up keys, key groups, and rules to enforce URL signing. By leveraging signed requests, Azure Front Door edge servers validate incoming requests before serving content, ensuring that only authorized users can access protected assets. This is especially valuable for subscription-based services, temporary access scenarios, and geo-restricted content. This feature empowers developers to secure their content delivery workflows with precision and flexibility.
