Announcing the public preview of A2A API support in Azure API Management. With this new capability, organizations can manage and govern agent APIs alongside other API types — AI model APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools, and traditional APIs such as REST, SOAP, and GraphQL.
This update empowers customers to extend their established API governance and security practices into the evolving agentic ecosystem, strengthening secure access, enforcing policies consistently, and ensuring observability for AI agents.
A2A APIs in Azure API Management offer advanced mediation of JSON-RPC runtime operations with robust policy support, enable agent card exposure to agents, users, or clients, and provide comprehensive tracing aligned with the OpenTelemetry GenAI semantic convention.
Additionally, you now have the option to register A2A APIs in Azure API Center, enabling organization-wide discovery and governance of agent APIs.
