## Announcement Announcement Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for bare metal 1.36.100-gke.144 is now available for download. To upgrade, see [Upgrade clusters](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/distributed-cloud/bare-metal/docs/how-to/upgrade). Google Distributed Cloud for bare metal 1.36.100-gke.144 runs on Kubernetes v1.36.4-gke.100. After a release, it takes approximately 7 to 14 days for the version to become available for installations or upgrades with the GKE On-Prem API clients: the Google Cloud console, the gcloud CLI, and Terraform. If you use a third-party storage vendor, check the listing of our previously-qualified [storage partners](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/enterprise/docs/resources/partner-storage). ## Feature Feature The following changes were added in 1.36.100-gke.144: * Extended the validity period for new certificates generated for GKE Identity Service from 5 years to 10 years. * Fixed an issue in clusters using bundled BGP load balancing where control plane upgrades or configuration updates could cause up to 20 seconds of API server connection failures while a control plane node restarted. After the fix, failover to a healthy control plane node completes in approximately 4 seconds. * Fixed an issue where node drain in maintenance mode did not wait for attached storage volumes to detach. * Added support in `bgpadvertiser` for advertising IPv6 addresses in addition to IPv4 addresses for bundled BGP control plane load balancing. ## Fix Fixed The following issues were fixed in 1.36.100-gke.144: * Link to [Vulnerability fixes](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/distributed-cloud/bare-metal/docs/vulnerabilities)for the list of security vulnerabilities addressed in this release. * Fixed an issue where user clusters repeatedly alternated between `reconciling`and `running` states if the management cluster had a different pod density configuration than the user cluster. * Updated `etcd` to `v3.5.33-0-gke.3` to address security vulnerabilities CVE-2026-46595 and CVE-2026-39821. * Fixed an issue where updating control plane configurations could cause transient Kubernetes API server downtime. After the fix, the update process strictly verifies that each API server is healthy before restarting subsequent control plane nodes. * Fixed an issue where deleting a cluster could stall indefinitely in the`terminating` state due to orphaned machine resources. * Fixed an issue where worker node pool creation could stall during provisioning in environments with strict network firewall policies. The node pool controller no longer waits for all inventory machines to be ready before declaring the node pool, eliminating a provisioning deadlock. * Fixed an issue where `BareMetalMachine` status conditions prematurely reported nodes as ready and available during maintenance mode transitions.
