## Feature Feature [Managed replica indexes](https://cloud.google.com/sql/docs/mysql/replication/read-replica-indexes#managed-replica-indexes)for Cloud SQL for MySQL are generally available ([GA](https://cloud.google.com/products#product-launch-stages)). This feature lets you automatically retain and restore secondary indexes on read replica instances when Cloud SQL re-creates a replica. Previously, re-creating a read replica deleted custom secondary indexes because primary backups don't have replica-only index definitions. With managed replica indexes, Cloud SQL tracks secondary index metadata on the primary instance, replicates this metadata to read replicas, and automatically rebuilds secondary indexes after replica re-creation. Managed replica indexes are supported on instances that are running Cloud SQL for MySQL 8.0 or later, Cloud SQL Enterprise edition or Cloud SQL Enterprise Plus edition, and maintenance version `R20260726.00_05` or later.
