G-series VMs are available in Azure HDInsight

G-series memory-optimized and storage-optimized VMs are available in Azure HDInsight. The sizes range from 2 cores, 28 GiB of memory, and 412 GB SSD, up to 32 cores, 448 GiB of memory, and 6,596 GB SSD. In addition to massive memory and local SSD storage, G-series VMs provide high computational performance by using the Intel Xeon processor E5 v3 family. ​G-series instances will be available in US West, UK South, Japan East, Europe East, Canada Central, and more regions. You can build Hadoop, Spark, Hive, LLAP, Kafka, Storm, and HBase solutions with the G-series. You can use the G-series to run machine learning and HPC workloads in HDInsight clusters.
