**On 31 March 2023, Event Grid on Azure IoT Edge public preview will be retired.** Before that date, please transition to the IoT Edge Hub module on Azure IoT Edge runtime instead of MQTT broker. Based on customer feedback, we are updating our original guidance and recommending migration to the IoT Edge Hub module as it is generally available and officially supported by Azure IoT Edge. Here’s a quick comparison between Event Grid on Azure IoT Edge and IoT Edge Hub module on Azure IoT Edge. | **Event Grid on Azure IoT Edge** | **Azure IoT Edge Hub** | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Publishing and subscribing to events locally/in the cloud Forwarding events to Event Grid Forwarding events to IoT Hub React to Blob Storage events locally | Connectivity to Azure IoT Hub Route messages between modules or devices locally Offline support Message filtering | From now until 31 March 2023, Event Grid on Azure IoT Edge preview version will not roll out new features and bug fixes. Critical security updates will be implemented. Applications using Event Grid on IoT preview release will no longer be supported after 31 March 2023. **Required action** Review [pricing](https://azure.microsoft.com/pricing/details/iot-edge/) and follow the [detailed steps](https://aka.ms/EventGridIoTEdgeRetirement) to transition from Event Grid on IoT Edge to the IoT Edge native capabilities. * Azure IoT Edge * Event Grid * Retirements * [ Event Grid](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/event-grid/) * [ Azure IoT Edge](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/iot-edge/)
