**On 31 March 2025, we’ll retire the public preview templates functionality in the Azure portal.** Before that date, you’ll need to start using [template specs](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/templates/quickstart-create-template-specs?tabs=azure-portal), which includes all the functionality of templates, plus enables you to:
• Securely store, share, and manage access to template specs in Azure Resource Manager.
• Iterate on template code to update an existing version or publish a new one.
• Deploy using PowerShell, Azure CLI, the Azure portal, REST, and other supported SDKs and clients.
**Required action**
To avoid losing access to your templates, follow the steps to [convert them to template specs](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/templates/template-spec-convert) in the Azure portal before 31 March 2025\.
**Help and support**
If you have a support plan and you need technical help, please create a [support request](https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft%5FAzure%5FSupport/HelpAndSupportBlade/newsupportrequest)
