Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will reach the [end of standard support on May 31st, 2023](https://ubuntu.com/blog/18-04-end-of-standard-support). In June 2023, the OS will be removed from IoT Edge Tier 1 supported platforms. To give you enough time to upgrade to a [supported platform](https://learn.microsoft.com/azure/iot-edge/support?view=iotedge-1.4#tier-1), Ubuntu 18.04 IoT Edge packages will be made available for another six months after the end of standard support - until Nov 30th, 2023. If you take no action, an Ubuntu 18.04 LTS based IoT Edge device will continue to work but ongoing security patches and bug fixes in the host packages for Ubuntu 18.04 will not be made available after Nov 30th, 2023\. IoT Edge system modules – Edge Agent and Edge Hub are not impacted. **Recommended Action**: To continue to receive support and security updates, we highly recommend that you update your host OS to a Tier 1 [supported platform](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-edge/support?view=iotedge-1.4#tier-1).
