Announcing public preview support for HTTP/3 over QUIC on Azure Application Gateway. HTTP/3 is the next evolution of HTTP and uses QUIC to improve connection setup time, reduce latency, and provide better resiliency for modern web applications and APIs.
With HTTP/3 support, Application Gateway can now serve frontend client connections over QUIC, helping improve performance for latency-sensitive workloads such as web applications, messaging platforms, mobile experiences, transactions, and APIs. QUIC reduces connection establishment overhead and supports independent streams, helping minimize the impact of packet loss and improving responsiveness over unreliable or high-latency networks.
HTTP/3 is configured at the listener level, allowing you to enable it selectively on Basic listeners. During public preview, HTTP/3 can be configured by using the Azure portal or through the REST API.
