As organizations build more agentic applications, agent-to-agent communication is becoming a critical part of enterprise AI systems. But in many environments, agent traffic operates outside existing API governance layers — making it difficult to apply consistent security, visibility, and operational controls.
With support for JSON-RPC–based A2A APIs, Azure API Management enables platform teams and developers to manage agent interactions alongside REST, GraphQL, MCP tools, and AI model APIs using the same API management platform they already rely on. This allows organizations to apply existing security, mediation, and governance policies to agent traffic, observe and trace agent interactions end-to-end, and manage agent APIs within a unified operational model instead of introducing separate gateways or disconnected tooling for agents.
By bringing A2A APIs into the same governance and observability framework as the broader API ecosystem, Azure API Management helps organizations scale agentic systems with enterprise-grade security, control, and operational consistency.
