Generally Available: File share centric management model (Microsoft.FileShares) for Azure Files

Share

Services

The new file share service management experience for Azure Files is now generally available for NFS 4.1 shares on SSD storage. Powered by the Microsoft.FileShares resource provider, file shares are now top-level Azure resources that you can create, secure, scale, and bill independently, without a storage account. Key benefits: * Top-level resource with a familiar, NAS-like management model. * Independent performance for each share through the provisioned v2 billing model, with dynamic scaling up and down and no noisy-neighbor impact. * Share-level security and networking, including per-share billing, encryption in transit, policies, and network configuration. * Support for up to 10,000 shares per subscription per region, with approximately 2.5× faster provisioning. * Snapshot support: up to 200 incremental, point-in-time snapshots per share, with metadata editing capability. * Per-share billing for cost tracking.
