The integration between Microsoft Agent 365 and Azure API Management is now available in public preview, helping organizations connect centralized governance with runtime enforcement for MCP servers and tools.
With this integration, organizations can:
* Discover Azure API Management gateways and MCP servers in Agent 365, creating a centralized inventory of gateway-managed tools.
* Control access to MCP servers from Agent 365, with enforcement applied by Azure API Management at runtime.
* Apply tool-level access controls with the Azure API Management AI Gateway tier, including blocking individual tools without disabling the entire MCP server.
* Monitor tool activity to support auditing, operational visibility, and incident investigation.
* Protect tool interactions using Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview capabilities to evaluate tool requests and responses for security threats and sensitive-information risks.
Azure API Management v2 tiers support centralized MCP inventory and server-level blocking and unblocking. The AI Gateway tier, currently in preview, adds individual tool-level blocking, tool activity observability, and tool threat protection.
This integration enables AI administrators to manage governance centrally in Agent 365 while platform teams enforce those policies through Azure API Management in the customer’s Azure environment.
